Diving Into Your Day Pass

Your First Visit: Orientation & Safety Training

Before you can utilize your Day Pass, you need to complete a mandatory, short orientation. Orientation is required for everyone using the space for the first time. You have two options to complete your orientation:

  • Join our standing orientation time: We offer a group orientation every Monday at 5:30 PM. Please RSVP to secure your spot.

  • Schedule a personalized time: If Monday evenings don't work for you, simply email us to find a time that fits your schedule.

During your orientation, we will:

  • Go over the rules and guidelines of our makerspace.

  • Show you how to access the space and get set up for your day.

  • Demonstrate how to book your desired stations and tools.

  • Answer frequently asked questions about using the space and membership.

  • Explain how to properly close up when you're finished for the day.

Optional: Tool Trainings

Your orientation is focused on the logistics of using the space and does not offer training or support on using specific machines or learning certain skills. If you need instruction on sewing, 3D printing, and more, you can purchase a private training.

Mandatory Safety Training for & Laser

Mandatory training is required before using the Glowforge Laser Cutter.  If you want to utilize the Glowforge, a one-time mandatory $20 training must be added to your day pass.

The Glowforge Laser Training covers the basics of using the Glowforge including operating the machine and air filter; accessing the Glowforge app; and producing a basic design.  For instructions on how to create vectors or master advanced laser techniques, you can book a private training or attend a laser-cut jewelry class.

Explore the Makerspace

Your Day Pass grants you access to an array of incredible creative stations, each designed to help you bring your ideas to life. Think of your orientation as your key to understanding the full potential of our space. While it provides a general overview, specialized training is available to equip you with the skills to confidently operate powerful tools like our Glowforge Laser. Dive in and discover the possibilities each station offers for your next project:

Craft Room

Our Craft Room offers a versatile and dedicated space perfect for various projects. It's wonderfully equipped with large tables, sewing machines, and some basic craft supplies for your convenience.

This room is ideal for handcrafts, assembly, or simply as a dedicated workspace while other machines hum along. The Craft Room is also beloved by our younger members - and don’t forget that children under 10 can join you for free!

Glowforge Laser Cutter

The Glowforge is a powerful and versatile tool for cutting and engraving a wide range of materials including wood and acrylic. Members love making jewelry, bookmarks, and even miniatures! (Reminder, a $20 Safety Training Fee applies to your first visit)

We stock basic acrylic and wood for purchase in our honor-based shop, but highly encourage you to bring your own laser-safe materials.

3D Printing

Our 3D printers are ready for your prototyping and creation needs. You can use our on-site PC, which has Ultimaker Cura pre-installed, or you're welcome to bring your own laptop. You have the option to purchase our on-site filament or bring your own; if bringing your own, ensure it's 2.85mm PLA filament for compatibility with our Ultimaker 3 printers.

Silhouette Cameo Vinyl Cutter

Our Silhouette Cameo allows you to precisely cut vinyl, cardstock, fabric, and other materials for custom decals, apparel designs, paper crafts, and more. You can utilize our on-site PC, or bring your own laptop with the free Silhouette Studio software pre-installed.

Feel free to bring your own vinyl or other compatible supplies; alternatively, you can purchase materials from our honor-based craft shop at the station.

Woodshop

For safety reasons, the woodshop is currently NOT available to day pass members at this time.
